Dr Stuart Goldberg joined the Hackensack University Medical Center’s Adult Transplant Program in 1998 after serving as the Assistant Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program of Temple University in Philadelphia from 1992-1997. Dr Goldberg received his medical degree from the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University in 1986. After completing training in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC, he continued subspecialty training in both Medical Oncology and Hematology at George Washington University Medical Center. Interests in Leukemia and Immunologic therapies were fostered at the Washington DC Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and the Cancer Institute of Mount Vernon Hospital. Dr Goldberg focused on Bone Marrow Transplantation techniques as a visiting fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle Washington. He continued his bone marrow transplantation training at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation in Rochester Minnesota serving as that institution’s first dedicated marrow transplant fellow.

Over the past decade Dr Goldberg has treated patients with hematological diseases and solid tumors using all forms of transplantation therapy. He is the author of over 75 research articles, abstracts, and book chapters on the field of marrow transplantation. His particular areas of interest have been in the development of supportive care designed to make transplantation therapy a safer procedure. He has recently completed an analysis of pretransplant factors predicting transplant toxicities, and is an expert on gastrointestinal complications of high-dose therapy. While at Temple University, he served as the Director of the Unrelated Bone Marrow Transplant Program and he is continuing these efforts at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Dr Goldberg is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the American College of Physicians, and the International Society of Graft Engineering and Hematotherapy. He is on the medical staff of Hackensack University Medical Center where he instructs medical residents in the care of marrow transplant patients.
