
Patients with Cancer and Blood Diseases in need of Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplantation services will find comprehensive diagnosis and treatment available at the NORTHERN NEW JERSEY CANCER CENTER and the HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER. The Adult Transplant Program combines the high-technological skill and resources of a major teaching medical center with the convenience and caring of an oncology outpatient facility. The Transplant Program functions as part of the Cancer Center, located adjacent to the Hackensack University Medical Center in the new Medical Plaza. The Cancer Center cares for over 25,000 patient visits per year, making it among the largest cancer treatment facilities in New Jersey.
Cancer treatments are provided by eight Board Certified Hematologist/Oncologists, clinical nurse specialists, oncology staff nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and dietitians. All aspects of cancer care are addressed in a friendly and comfortable environment. The Northern New Jersey Cancer Center features state-of-the-art facilities, including treatment and infusion suites, an onsite laboratory and cancer pharmacy, patient library, meeting rooms for individual and group counseling, and full transplantation services.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CANCER CENTER
- On-site laboratory and pharmacy to aid in the delivery of chemotherapy
- The Nutrition and Food Management Program, which offers patients individualized counseling to help maintain a sound nutritional plan and reduce treatment side effects
- Individual, Group and Family Counseling, including groups for "Persons Living with Cancer", for patients with breast cancer and prostate cancer, for patients undergoing stem cell or marrow transplantation, and a children’s creative arts support group for children with a parent, grandparent or sibling with cancer.
- Comprehensive social services, including financial assistance, stress reduction sessions, and a patient education resource library
- Spiritual Support, developed in conjunction with the Hackensack University Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Department
- Educational Outreach Programs and free health screenings for prostate and breast cancer
- A Hospice Program, combining medical support, palliative care and respite care, a Therapeutic Touch Program, group support, bereavement services, and an art therapy group for children who have lost a loved one.
