Over the past few years Stem Cell and Bone Marrow transplantation have revolutionized the way some cancers and blood diseases are treated. These procedures offer renewed hope for patients who often have few other effective treatment options.

The Adult Stem Cell – Bone Marrow Transplant Program of the Hackensack University Medical Center and the Northern New Jersey Cancer Associates is among only a handful of programs in the nation accredited to perform all types of transplant procedures.

The Transplant Program is:

  • One of New Jersey’s first transplant programs
  • Among the 10 largest programs in the United States, performing over 200 transplants per year
  • The only program in New Jersey and one of only 18 in the US approved by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group as a research center for both allogeneic and autologous procedures.
  • The only transplant center in New Jersey approved by the National Marrow Donor Program to perform Unrelated transplant procedures
  • A participating center in national Cord Blood transplantation research protocols
  • One of only a few programs in the US approved by the Food and Drug Administration to evaluate Ex-vivo cell expansion techniques
  • The first program in the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania region and one of only a handful in the entire nation to be inspected and accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Hematopoietic Cellular Therapy
