LIVER CANCER and GALLBLADDER CANCER

LIVER CANCER

Hepatocellular (liver) cancer is one of the most common tumors in the world. These tumors are especially common in Asia and Africa where hepatitis B and hepatitis C may be a risk factor. The disease is typically advanced by the time of diagnosis.

Treatment of Liver Cancer may consist of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.

Liver Cancers are not currently treated with transplantation at Hackensack University Medical Center. However, the physicians at the Northern New Jersey Cancer Center are experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease

GALLBLADDER CANCER

Gallbladder cancers are rare. Presenting symptoms include right sided pain heartburn. If diagnosed early, when complete surgical removal is possible, the outlook can be quite good.

Treatment of gallbladder cancers consists of surgery. Chemotherapy plays a minor role in this disease.
